History

1846 Shipwreck
The devastating shipwrecks that struck the New Jersey beaches on February 15, 1846 left an indelible mark. Among them was the John Minturn, a three-masted packet ship bound for New York from New Orleans. Despite reaching Sandy Hook, the storm's fury propelled the ship southward and out to sea. Captain John Stark bravely attempted to save lives by running the ship aground off Mantoloking but tragically hit a sandbar.
The site of this tragic event would later serve as a temporary funeral home, where the stories of those lost were mournfully honored. The Shore House stands as a testament to this haunting event, its walls carrying the weight of history. Legend whispers that the spirit of Captain Stark roams within, forever bound to the ship and the sea. Our establishment honors the enduring spirit of resilience, forever tied to the shipwreck's legacy and the souls that once sought solace within its walls.
In Between
Throughout its storied history, The Shore House has undergone remarkable transformations, transitioning from humble beginnings into an integral part of the community. Taken over in the early 2000s by the Gullace family, the location now thrives as a vibrant hub of entertainment, culinary excellence, and delightful libations. The Gullaces have also become a driving force in Point Pleasant, contributing significantly to the local area.
During one of the most recent renovations, hidden treasures of the past were unearthed, breathing new life into our establishment. These historical building aspects have now become cherished staples of our brand, seamlessly blending the allure of the past with the modern experience we offer today. From day to night, The Shore House has solidified its status as a beloved staple, seamlessly bridging the gap between history and the present.
