Since 1840's
The Shore House dates back to the 1840s, originally serving as a stagecoach hotel for weary travelers along the Jersey Shore. In time, it transitioned into a beloved neighborhood tavern, all while preserving its vintage wood-framed structure and timeless charm. Today, this laid-back eatery on Route 88 stands as a local fixture—blending rustic character, coastal tradition, and the warm hospitality of Point Pleasant.
1846 Shipwreck
The devastating shipwrecks that struck the New Jersey beaches on February 15, 1846 left an indelible mark. Among them was the John Minturn, a three-masted packet ship bound for New York from New Orleans. Despite reaching Sandy Hook, the storm's fury propelled the ship southward and out to sea. Captain John Stark bravely attempted to save lives by running the ship aground off Mantoloking but tragically hit a sandbar.
In Between
Throughout its storied history, The Shore House has undergone remarkable transformations, transitioning from humble beginnings into an integral part of the community. Taken over in the early 2000s by the Gullace family, the location now thrives as a vibrant hub of entertainment, culinary excellence, and delightful libations. The Gullaces have also become a driving force in Point Pleasant, contributing significantly to the local area.

We are grateful to have the most amazing customers, and their unwavering support inspires us to continually improve their experience. Building on the success of our outdoor dining, we knew we had to bring back something even more spectacular. Recently, we obtained approval from the Point Pleasant Planning Board for an exciting expansion plan that includes a new kitchen, a dining room/private party space, and a stunning 1,100-square-foot outdoor deck.
